IT directors are less concerned about the environmental impact of their firms than they were a year ago.

Document management software firm Version One questioned 100 senior IT directors and managers about ecological issues for the second year, and found there was less concern.

The survey found 86% of respondents were concerned about the negative impact their company is having on the environment, down 12% on the previous year.

The survey found 48% of respondents were very concerned about their company's environmental impact, compared with 56% last year.

In Version One's latest survey, 12% admitted they were not concerned about their company's environmental impact, compared with just 1% in the 2007 survey.

Some suggested the government is promoting a green agenda to raise revenues. One IT manager in a large healthcare organisation asked, "what impact on the environment?"
