Biologically inspired
robotic
fish, which
swim
around a tank and avoid objects, are the subject of an entry
into the IT category of the Institution of Engineering and
Technology (IET)
2008
Innovation Awards.
The robotic fish, built by
scientists at
Essex University, are the most advanced in the world. Each has
four computers, five motors and over 10 sensors on-board.
The technology will have a wide range of future uses, including
sea bed exploration, detection of leaks in oil pipelines, sea life
exploration and even spying.
