Marks & Spencer has signed a five-year £19m IT
managed services contract withComputacenter.
Damone Quigley, head of infrastructure and application services
at
Marks & Spencer, said, "The partnership with Computacenter
Services will enable us to align IT more closely to the business
and deliver tangible results at lower and predictable costs."
Quigley said the contract will enable M&S to create a more
joined up service-focused IT department. "The new managed service
will enable us to provide a more efficient response to head office
users."
The contract builds on Marks & Spencer's previous contract
with Comptacenter and will support 4000 head office users across
six UK sites. M&S will be using Computacenter for release
management, build management, software asset management and
security administration. Computacenter Services will be responsible
for delivering these services across approximately 7,000 servers,
desktops, laptops and the cabling infrastructure.
Through the contract Computacenter said it would provide
environmentally-friendly hardware configurations and a
WEEE-compliant asset disposal process, which means none of M&S'
hardware will be disposed in landfill sites.
