A 15-year-old boy has gained an A-level in computing after only nine month's of study.

Kabilan Malavarayan from Hounslow, London, achieved a grade 'C' in Computing at Ryde Teaching Services in Bushley, Hertfordshire.

Malavarayan, who is also active in the Boys Brigade, now wants to become a web designer.

Mike Ryde, principal of Ryde Teaching said, "His dedication and commitment to the course has resulted in this achievement. It also demonstrates that given the opportunity, parental support and motivation, children of all ages can attain exam success."

The British Computer Society this week launched an initiative to get more youngsters on an IT career path. The campaign was started to coincide with this week's A-level results in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
