Mozilla is changing the way it releases future security
fixes to its open source
Firefox
browser.
To ensure the quality of fixes, Mozilla will first release
security patches to a select group of users who have signed up to
the browser’s beta programme.
Recently, some important security patches planned by Firefox
have been delayed when bugs have appeared, a problem that has also
affected Microsoft this year.
The next planned version of Firefox is 2.0.0.3, equipped with
the latest patches. It will be released in the next few days once
it has been tried out by the beta testers.
It is expected that Firefox 2.0.0.3 will address around
half-dozen security vulnerabilities.
