The number of IT jobs have almost doubled this year,
according to Mandis/Computer People’s quarterly job
tracker.
A fourfold growth in telecoms opportunities helped stoke the
numbers in the second quarter, offsetting a slight tail-off in IT
job prospects.
Altogether, 7,246 new jobs were posted during the second quarter
of 2006, compared with 4,888 in the first quarter.
Despite a slight downturn on 2005 figures, Computer People
managing director Adam Fletcher is optimistic about the buoyancy of
the market and believes the slow start to the year “was simply a
blip”.
He adds, “We may see demand outstripping supply in some of the
more specialist areas by the end of the year such as C# and .net
development skills.”
