Fashion shoemaker Ecco has signed a five-year $12m
(£6.3m) IT services deal with
IBM,
which involves supporting and modifying an existing SAP
deployment.
As part of the deal, IBM will support Ecco’s existing SAP R/3
environment and the implementation of an ERP business solution with
several modules designed to support the company’s global expansion
strategy.
The Danish shoemaker owns tanneries and factories and has 500
shops (its own and franchised) in 60 countries. It also distributes
its shoes across the retail chain.
IBM said the shoemaker had “decided to implement a more flexible
and modern version of SAP with several new modules”, including
customer relationship management, supply chain management and
supplier relationship management.
Mikael Thinghuus, chief operating officer at Ecco, said, “IBM’s
expertise combined with SAP’s integrated solution design will
increase our flexibility and enable us to handle the continuous
adjustments that are necessary in the supply chain. Also, it’s our
aim to increase the visibility of the supply chain metrics and
performance.”
IBM Global Business Services consultants will implement and
manage the new modules.
