Drinks industry giant Constellation Europe, the company
behind Hardys wine and Babycham, has gained a five-fold increase in
internet bandwidth with a managed service from NTL Telewest
Business.
The drinks firm is using the 20mbps managed internet service
from NTL Telewest to support growing volumes of e-mail traffic and
provide network access for its 1,200 staff across Europe.
Constellation was seeking to give greater priority to staff
accessing its network remotely, such as sales representatives
logging in from customer sites to get critical businesses
information.
The firm’s IT infrastructure manager Mike Davis said, “The
internet is central to all that our people do and as we continue to
expand we are creating much more internet traffic.
“NTL Telewest Business has allowed us to make a massive increase
in the speed of our internet access and give much more bandwidth to
our staff, prioritised so that they can get access to the most
important information very quickly.”
The fact that the broadband provider had its own nationwide
network meant it offered a comprehensive alternative to relying on
the BT network, he added.
