Virtualisation is daunting for all but the

IT directors are afraid of the risks of using virtualising
technology in their live environments and systems, a survey from
Vanson Bourne has found. The Morse-sponsored study found that only
29% of respondents used it in live business-critical
environments.
Researchers gear up for web innovation

The University of Southampton and MIT have begun a research
collaboration on the next wave of web innovation. The initiative
will generate a research agenda for understanding the scientific,
technical and social challenges underlying the growth of the
web.
Software to grab 30% of next year’s IT
budgets
A study from Forrester Research has found that IT directors plan
to plan to spend an average of 30% of their total IT budget on
software licences, maintenance, operations, and development in
2007. The top software priorities will be application integration
(27%), security (21%) and SOA (12%).
Gates promises users ERP on demand
Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has announced that Microsoft will
deliver enterprise resource planning on demand. Gates said that ERP
applications would be offered under the Microsoft Live on-demand
initiative.
