SWsoft's Virtuozzo software has been identified in an
industry survey by IDC as the fastest growing among all vendors in
the virtualisation technology market.
The research firm found that Virtuozzo had a 98% growth rate for
worldwide industry sales of virtualisation software for the 2004-05
period. Other vendors were experiencing a 67% growth rate,
resulting in revenues topping $560m for the same period. According
to IDC, the virtualisation market is expected to grow to $15bn
worldwide by 2009.
SWsoft’s Virtuozzo operating system-level server virtualisation
technology allows for a single Linux or Windows OS instance to be
partitioned into multiple, highly-efficient virtual
environments.
"Our sales momentum is a reflection of our highly-efficient
operating system-level Virtuozzo technology, along with its
management capabilities for physical servers and virtual
environments," says Serguei Beloussov, chief executive officer,
SWsoft.
"We will enhance those with management and automation tools that
will allow customers to further maximise the benefits gained
through virtualised resources," he adds.
"Overall, IDC views virtual machines as a foundational technology
to the dynamic IT," explains John Humphreys, programme director
with IDC's Enterprise Platform Group.
"Virtualisation, which decouples the application from the
underlying hardware, allows the customer to create service-oriented
infrastructure whereby they can begin to manage services and employ
policy-based automation to manage and deliver the underlying
infrastructure."
