Salesforce.com to enable bespoke on-demand CRM
Salesforce.com is to offer a service to help users build their own on-demand customer relationship management applications that run on top of Saleforce.com's hosted infrastructure. The Apex-based technology will compete with tools and services from Oracle, Microsoft, SAP and others.
Infiniband integrated with iSCSI storage
Infiniband, a high-speed communications technology, has been extended so that it can integrate with iSCSI networked storage systems. An add-on called iSER can speed up lower-end iSCSI products so they can reach data transfer speeds of between 10gbps and 20gbps when used with new Infiniband DDR hardware.
Microsoft ends support for XP Service Pack 1
Microsoft ended its support for Windows XP Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 1a last week. The firm urged users running the software to move to Windows XP Service Pack 2 as soon as possible.
Gartner predicts rise of software as a service
By 2011, 25% of new business software will be delivered through the software as a service model, according to Gartner. The analyst firm made the prediction in a report at its symposium in Orlando last week.
