Juniper Networks has announced an upgrade to ScreenOS,
the security-specific operating system for its firewall and IPSec
Virtual Private Network appliances.
The ScreenOS 5.4 enhancements are designed to protect traffic
traveling in and out of business branch offices from worms,
spyware, trojans and other malware.
The new ScreenOS offers a complete set of unified threat
management features, including anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam
and anti-phishing capabilities along with web filtering for
Juniper’s Secure Services Gateway (SSG) and Integrated Security
Gateway (ISG) products.
ScreenOS 5.4 suppoorts policy-based routing, allowing network
administrators to define security policies, and includes captive
portal functionality, so new or unauthenticated users are
automatically redirected to the Juniper Infranet Controller for
verification before access is given to the network.
