Test version of Windows verification tool sent out

Microsoft has admitted that a test version of its program for discovering whether a PC is running a genuine copy of Windows is being automatically distributed to users’ PCs. Some users have reported that the Windows Genuine Advantage software contains bugs that have caused their PC to inform them that their machine is running counterfeit software when in fact it is not.

Oracle releases suite to aid SOA deployment

Oracle has developed an integrated, standards-based product aimed at helping users build, deploy and manage event-driven applications. The Oracle Event-Driven Architecture Suite, part of Oracle’s Fusion middleware family, is a key component of SOA 2.0, the next-generation of service oriented architecture standards, according to Oracle. SOA 2.0 defines how events and services are linked together to deliver a flexible and responsive IT infrastructure.

HP tool aids datacentre staffing decisions

Hewlett-Packard has extended its Openview tools with decision support technology to help IT directors make the best use of datacentre staff. HP Openview Decisioncenter uses analysis and simulations against historical service data to help business managers optimise staff assignments based on service-level impact and cost.
