IT bosses feel the strain of change
management
Keeping track of both the frequency and volume of changes that
are made to their IT infrastructures is regarded as a major
challenge for IT directors. Seventy out of 100 IT directors
questioned in a recent survey by IT business management software
firm Touchpaper faced challenges in change management. These
included users making unauthorised changes to their PCs, desktop
software upgrades and full server replacements.
Clearquest 7 now offers improved asset
control
IBM has developed a team version of its Rational product geared
towards helping to raise the efficiency of software development
teams. IBM Rational Clearquest 7 now offers workflow and activity
management, which the company said can help organisations trace an
asset through the software development lifecycle, and provide
auditing information for compliance.
VMware suite designed to consolidate
systems
VMware has introduced a suite of infrastructure products
designed to help businesses consolidate IT systems and tackle
rising IT costs. The Infrastructure 3 suite includes VMware’s ESX
Server platform for virtualising servers, storage and networking,
its VirtualCenter management tool and its Virtual Machine File
System for storage virtualisation.
