Kraft Foods has signed a seven-year $1.7bn (£1bn)
worldwide IT outsourcing deal with EDS.
EDS will provide datacentres and hosting services, telecoms, and
desktop and server support from 1 June.
EDS will support more than 60,000 Kraft employees worldwide as
part of the deal. Around 700 staff will transfer to EDS as the
outsourcer takes over Kraft's IT infrastructure.
Roger Deromedi, Kraft Foods chief executive officer, said,
“World-class IT is critical to Kraft's long-term business success.
Our strategy is to have the ideal mix of in-house and outsourced
activities.”
EDS is using Cisco, Dell, EMC and Microsoft to supply the
necessary hardware and software for Kraft’s revamped IT
infrastructure.
