Lambeth council is saving £300,000 a year on its
software licensing costs as a result of a three-year £1.1m desktop
deployment deal with outsourcer Civica Services.
It will standardise 5,000 desktops using Microsoft software as
part of the deal.
Civica will deploy new desktops, common operating systems and
applications, as well as management and helpdesk support across
seven council directorates covering 100 different sites.
This will include the roll-out of 650 PCs at Lambeth’s new
Vauxhall Cross offices. In addition, Civica is centralising
management of different departments’ software assets and licensing
agreements.
Simon Morioka, Lambeth divisional director responsible for
business transformation and IT, said, “This partnership has allowed
us not only to reduce the immediate costs of licenses to the
council by £300,000 per year, but it is also a building block for
our future development.”
Civica is working with Lambeth’s in-house ICT teams and
contractors to complete the programme, which is due for completion
this autumn.
Civica is a major Microsoft Large Account Reseller. As a result,
the borough has negotiated a three-year Microsoft Enterprise
Agreement in line with Office of Government Commerce (OGC)
requirements, to reduce software pricing.
