The busiest commercial district of London’s Docklands in
now one big Wi-Fi zone after experts were brought in create an
optimised network for the Canary Wharf area.
Managers of the site now claim that Canary Wharf is the biggest
Wi-Fi-enabled business zone in Europe.
Tony Partington, managing director of Canary Wharf Management,
said, “Canary Wharf is proud to be able to offer wireless internet
access across the entire estate and to be Europe’s biggest
Wi-Fi-enabled business zone.”
He said, “Mobile access to internet, e-mail and corporate
networks is now available wherever you are on the site, whether in
a park, shop, restaurant or conference centre.”
Wireless infrastructure specialists AlanDick Group were employed
to do the work by wireless operator The Cloud, to give 75,000
workers and thousands of visitors public Wi-Fi access in the
area.
Users of the service will be able to get online using laptops,
personal digital assistants and other wireless devices as a result
of the radio frequency upgrades in the area.
AlanDick engineers performed RF coverage planning for all the
outdoor areas to ensure that high-speed 100% coverage would be
available throughout the site.
They also installed new access points and undertook testing of
cabling and communications room equipment.
