HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has awarded SCC a
contract potentially worth £560m to deliver supply-chain management
services.
Mark Forth, commercial director at HMRC said, “Through this
partnership we will be able to deliver significant cost savings and
process improvements.
“An essential aspect in awarding this contract has been the
flexibility and commitment SCC has demonstrated in defining the
best way we can work together to deliver real value and
efficiencies.”
Other SCC IT services clients include Air France, British
Airways, Carrefour, Deloitte, Disney, The Dutch Ministry of
Defence, Gucci, Orange and charity Save the Children.
Earlier this week it was announced that HMRC and US-based
outsourcer EDS had reached a £71m out-of-court settlement over IT
problems with the launch and operation of the government’s tax
credit systems.
The settlement involves both an upfront payment and subsequent
payments over time. HMRC said the settlement was “commensurate with
EDS’s responsibility for the IT problems which followed the launch
of tax credits”.
IT problems contributed to difficulties which saw the government
make £1.9bn of overpayments in the first year of tax credits.
Capgemini has replaced EDS as the outsourcer running the
system.
