Salesforce.com has expanded its CRM data back-up
facilities to encourage a larger number of big firms to adopt its
on-demand services.
Salesforce.com is spending $50m (£29.5m) to establish large data
centres on both the east and west coast of the US, to build on the
data back-up capacity it already has at its existing Silicon Valley
data centre.
A fourth data centre will be built on the west coast to support
the company’s product development.
The additional customer data centres are designed to re-assure
large companies that, should the worst happen, their CRM data will
be safely replicated and backed-up at several Salesforce.com
locations.
The company has also launched a new web services initiative
called “Smashforce”.
Smashforce consists of a software-development tool kit built on
Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) technology.
The Ajax solution is designed to give users of Salesforce’s
multiforce platform the ability to more quickly create multiple web
services that share data and a single user interface.
