Thursday 31 March 2005 02:23

Selfridges has outsourced its datacentre and other IT functions to Retail Assist. The outsourcer will provide network management, Oracle database administration and support, and AIX operating system support.

The Selfridges IBM P-Series data processing computer will now be housed at Retail Assist’s Northampton datacentre.

Sudhir Patel, Selfridges's head of IT, said, "It’s clear that we’ll be working with individuals who know fashion and department store technology inside out. We also felt that the close working culture that Retail Assist develops with its clients will give us a responsive and cost-effective service."

Selfridges has two stores in Manchester and one in Birmingham as well as its flagship London operation. Selfridges joins Principles, Warehouse, New Look, Adams Childrenswear, Thresher Group, Harvey Nichols, Oasis and Coast in Retail Assist’s store and retail brand customer list.
