Four major events will bring IT directors and senior
managers out in force this year, and places are filling up
fast.
Three are free of charge, the IT Directors' Forum from 18-21 May,
the Triple i Convention in September, and the City IT Conference
for those in the financial services sector, in November. The other,
the Corporate IT Forum's annual conference, is in June.
IT Directors' Forum, 18-21 May
The IT Directors' Forum, on board the cruise ship Aurora, is
aimed at those in industries other than the finance sector. More
than 350 people have already signed up for the event.
The conference focuses on practicalities - looking not only at
strategic, governance and teamworking issues, but also at coaching
and personal development. Personal development sessions will
include body language, stress management and presentation
skills.
There is no such thing as a totally free cruise - which, in this
case, includes three free lunches and three free dinners. Users
have to be available to speak to supplier sponsors, albeit in
short, structured sessions. This formula is also being used for the
City IT conference in November.
The IT Directors' Forum has strong links with the BCS Elite group
of IT directors, which is represented on the conference's advisory
board, and the Computer Weekly 500 Club, which is hosting an
reception for IT directors on board the Aurora.

The Corporate IT Forum's 10th annual conference, 22
June
Celebrating its 10th anniversary at this high-level conference in
London, the Corporate IT Forum (Tif) is very much looking forwards
in business terms.
The conference, which is open to non-members, is not free, but with
about 200 senior IT managers from the largest UK organisations
attending, it will be heavily case-study oriented and will provide
good networking opportunities.
Entitled Changing TimesÉ Changing the Business, the conference will
focus on how IT is being used to improve efficiency and
effectiveness, and also how to achieve the adaptability,
flexibility and agility to enable the business to stay one step
ahead of the competition in a demanding global market.
Governance will be a prominent issue, as will regulatory
compliance.

Triple i Convention,18-20
September
The British Computer Society Elite group of IT users will link up
with the Financial Times at this September's Triple i Convention
for IT directors in the heart of the Northamptonshire
countryside.
Based on a users go free, suppliers pay basis, the conference gives
IT directors the opportunity to discuss the top IT issues in the
company of their peers.
Organised by business-to-business organisation Penton Media, the
event is in its second year. There are 100 IT directors already
lined up to attend, and about 150 are expected to attend in all.
Elite has helped with input on the programme.

City IT Conference, 3-6 November
Further ahead, but already going into busy City diaries, is the
City IT conference, the sister conference to the IT Directors'
Forum, which is also on board the Aurora.
This year's conference will have two streams: IT cost reduction and
business continuity.
