SAP plans to add further business intelligence capabilities
in the 2005 release of Netweaver to help companies make more
accurate sales forecasts, improve their supplier relationships and
increase the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
SAP said the new capabilities will benefit corporate environments
with high data volumes, simultaneous data requests and
unpredictable queries.
Henry Morris, group vice-president at analyst firm IDC, said,
"Knowledge workers have had to wait anywhere from a few seconds to
an hour for queries to return information, which has dissuaded them
from employing the tools they need to do the job.
"SAP's use of search technology to enhance query performance is an
innovative approach."
