The impact of corporate governance and data protection
legislation on storage management will be one of a wide range of
topics examined at the Storage Expo conference and exhibition at
London's Olympia on 13-14 October.
Speakers at the conference include Martin Cooper, global operations
manager at engineering consultancy Arup, who will outline how he
consolidated his storage across eight business groups to slash the
number of back-ups required by 90%.
Also at the conference, David France, head of IT at the BAR Formula
1 Team's operations centre, and Neil Haskins of internet bank Egg
will be taking part in a panel session on managing storage growth.
Areas they will address include making a cost justification for
storage systems and dealing with budgetary pressures.
The IT operations manager has to be able to demonstrable fitness
for purpose and value for money, not only by being able to store
and retrieve huge amounts of networked information, but also by
managing the process efficiently.
France and Haskins aim to provide strategic insight and share
practical experience to guide conference delegates in the
essentials of effective storage management strategies.
