Storage specialist EMC has announced solutions to help
mid-sized IT organisations drive down cost and increase the
productivity of Microsoft Exchange e-mail servers.
The new EMC Express Solution for E-Mail is the first in a series
of EMC Express Solutions, which include packaged hardware, software
and services that target the business needs of small to
medium-sized companies.
Using automated policy management software, the EMC Express
Solution for E-Mail helps organisations to consolidate and manage
years of e-mail messages on a single networked storage system.
EMC claims that by cost-effectively expanding mailbox limits,
end-user productivity improves while Microsoft Exchange Server
storage costs are reduced by up to 30%.
The solution includes EMC storage boxes and drives, archiving and
compression, data replication and back-up software, and an Exchange
acceleration solution.
"The EMC Express Solution for E-mail helps mid-sized
organisations maximise the benefits of Microsoft Exchange Server by
enabling the highest levels of availability and protection," said
Kim Akers, senior director in the Exchange Server Marketing at
Microsoft.
"Midsized organisations with budget limitations can now purchase
ready-made solutions from EMC with built in backup and recovery as
well as a limitless mailbox."
Nancy Hurley, analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, added, “This
kind of bundled solution is exactly what the mid-market needs to
address the pain points associated with managing e-mail."
