Adobe has launched a family of services built around its Intelligent Document Platform.

Aimed at users who are building web services, the Intelligent Document Platform aims to integrate "intelligent documents" into enterprise applications such as ERP and customer relationship management systems.

The new services include Adobe Form Manager, Form Server, Barcoded Paper Forms Solution, Reader Extensions Server, Designer, Document Security Server and Policy Server. They provide document generation, collaboration, process management, security and control capabilities.

Intelligent documents combine both the XML and PDF formats to allow users to move data to and from back-end systems using the services provided by Adobe. The services are delivered via Adobe's Livecycle server software, which is built on Java 2 Enterprise Edition.
