Rising levels of e-mail, general data storage requirements
and document management systems will drive up user spending on
storage over the next year, according to a snapshot poll of
delegates at last month's Storage Expo 2004 event.
Of the 135 delegates questioned, 61% said they would increase IT
spending over the next 12 months. Just 1% said spending would
decline.
Twenty four per cent said an increase in e-mail and general IT use
would trigger an increase in spending, and a further 23% said data
storage and customer document management would prompt them to buy
additional storage.
Forty per cent of users questioned said they would buy storage
hardware in the next 12 months, 13% planned to purchase storage
software products, and 13% planned to invest in business continuity
products and services.
