The management implications of mobilising the organisation
will be the theme this June of the first Computer Weekly 500 Club
meetings to be held in Manchester and Edinburgh.
The events follow a meeting taking place in London this week at
which IT leaders will discuss strategies to get more for less from
IT budgets.
The CW500 Club, whose members are senior corporate IT users in
large organisations, has been running for the past 11 years. The
format of its meetings encourages networking, with IT users giving
bullet-point presentations followed by formal discussions, and
rounded off with informal discussions over drinks. All comments are
strictly "off-the-record".
The format has been a source of information and reassurance to
hundreds of IT directors over the years.
The June meetings will tackle the management implications of one of
the core technology issues facing IT managers - mobile computing.
They aim to help IT directors evaluate how their peers are
addressing common managerial concerns in this area, such as how
mobile computing delivers tangible business benefits. Both events
are linked with the Citrix iForum.
The London meeting, led by Owen Williams, head of IT at property
firm Knight Frank, and Rod Matthews, head of IT at Knowsley
Council, will address the practical strategies that IT managers can
apply in producing more for less in a climate of downward financial
pressure.
IT managers of user organisations based in or around Manchester and
Edinburgh who would like to know more about the CW500 Club, or who
would like to attend the meetings in June, should contact Lyn
