Bhs has signed a seven-year, £78m IT outsourcing
contract extension with Computer Sciences (CSC).
CSC said that under the contract extension, the company will
continue to support more than 850 desktops and 68 servers for Bhs,
as well as infrastructure servers across 165 stores and 2,500
electronic point-of-sale terminals across the UK.
About 100 CSC employees provide services to Bhs under the
agreement.
CSC has done IT outsourcing for Bhs since 1993, when the company
was part of the Storehouse Group.
"After a thorough review of our IT operations and requirements,
we were satisfied that extending our existing long-term
relationship with CSC would provide the best solution for Bhs and
we look forward to continuing to work successfully together," said
Ian Allkins, commercial director of Bhs.
CSC chairman and chief executive officer Van Honeycutt said that
the original Bhs deal was CSC's first large IT outsourcing contract
in the UK.
The extension reinforces his company's performance in providing
the services, he said.
