HP considers South Korea R&D centre

Wednesday 11 February 2004 11:24

Hewlett-Packard is considering setting up a research and development centre in South Korea.

So far the company has made no formal plans nor confirmed any details.

Last year Intel said it would set up a research and development centre focused on technologies for the digital home and wireless communications. Intel had intended to have the centre running by the end of 2003 but unspecified reasons have led to a delay in the company's plans.

South Korea is one of Asia's most technologically advanced nations. Multimegabit-per-second broadband internet is available almost everywhere and mobile network operators have been offering commercial third-generation services since 2002.
