Poor website design continues to dog the online versions of
10 of the UK's most widely read newspapers, according to a study by
AbilityNet, a charity advising on IT to support disabled people, of
which the BCS is a founder and trustee.
The Guardian and the Daily and Sunday Express sites were awarded
two stars out of a possible five, but still failed to meet basic
levels of accessibility for disabled people, AbilityNet said.
The other eight sites checked were given just one star and
described as "very inaccessible". These included the Daily Mail,
Daily Mirror, Daily Telegraph, Financial Times, the Sun and the
Times. An earlier report by AbilityNet on airline websites had
similar poor results.
