Cray is to release a commercial system based on its Red
Storm supercomputer at the Sandia National Laboratory in
Albuquerque next year.
The 10,000-processor, Linux-based system - which costs
approximately $90m - is capable of operating at 40 trillion
calculations per second.
Cray will use the Opteron chip from Advanced Micro Devices for
the commercial version.
