Error prevention software vendor Parasoft is to announce it has
joined the Eclipse consortium for open-source development
tools.
The company will participate on the Eclipse Board of Stewards with
vendors such as IBM, which is driving the Eclipse initiative, as
well as Red Hat, Sybase, and Fujitsu. Parasoft's Roman Salvador,
vice-president of research and development, will represent Parasoft
on the board.
The Eclipse platform is intended to allow for system development,
testing, and management tools from multiple vendors to be
integrated to provide a complete solution for users, Parasoft said.
In the Eclipse Platform, code access and use is controlled through
the Common Public Licence, allowing individuals to create
derivative works with worldwide re-distribution rights that are
royalty-free, according to the Eclipse Web site.
Parasoft tools including Jtest, Soaptest and WebKing and can be
purchased and plugged into the Eclipse platform to extend it with
automatic state analysis, functional and load testing, and Web
services verification, according to Parasoft.
Oracle announced its participation in Eclipse in November.
