VA Software will release a version of its SourceForge Enterprise
Edition software development platform optimised for IBM's DB2
database, the company announced at Linuxworld yesterday.
SourceForge Enterprise Edition, a product that enables developers
in different locations to collaborate on projects over the
Internet, will be optimised to work with IBM's WebSphere
Application Server, WebSphere Studio Application Developer and
Tivoli management software.
VA also struck a joint marketing and sales agreement with IBM,
which will sell VA's enterprise product, also optimised to run on
IBM xSeries servers running Linux.
SourceForge software is used by organisations including
Hewlett-Packard and Cornell University, but is possibly best known
because of the popular SourceForge.net open-source software
development Web site run by a VA subsidiary. This Web site will
move to a DB2 database by mid-January.
SourceForge Enterprise Edition for DB2 is due out by the end of the
year. Pricing information was not immediately available.
VA will demonstrate SourceForge working with DB2 and IBM WebSphere
Studio Application Developer at the IBM LinuxWorld Developer
Habitat tomorrow.
