More than half of PC users do not feel that they are using their PC
to its full potential, according to survey by BMRB International.
The research showed that 53% of the regular PC users surveyed
are between 25- and 44-years old. BRMB suggested that these would
be mainly work-based. A third of those not using their PC to its
full potential fell into this age range.
About a third of those not using the potential of their PCs felt
they needed training but were dissuaded by factors such as time
constraints and associated costs.
The survey of more than 1,000 people was conducted for PC maker
Gateway to coincide with the launch of its online PC training
courses and three PC training software packs.
Customers who log on at www.learnatgateway.com and pay £60 will
receive a year's access to Gateway's online courses which are
divided into eight categories: business courses, database courses,
design courses, desktop courses, Net user courses, networking
courses, programming courses and Webmaster courses.
Gateway also unveiled a learning library which consists of three
CD software packs designed to offer multimedia, interactive
training on Microsoft products, including Worksuite 2000 and the SB
and professional versions of Office 2000.
